The sea and island life. Casa Cat Ba, in Holbox: a villa remade by its owners with local materials and natural colors, with every room opening onto the beach and sunset on the terrace.

A village and its table. Casona Los Cedros, in Espita, a Pueblo Mágico: a casona (a large traditional house) rescued after thirty years of neglect, with a restaurant that cooks with local producers and the house’s own kitchen garden.

Nature, cenotes and birds. Galopina Casa Silvestre, in Seyé: five suites set into the lie of the land, some looking out over the treetops and others set into the earth, in the Ring of Cenotes reserve.

A World Heritage city. Casonas MX, in the walled city of Campeche: 18th-century casonas restored with lime and chukum, lived in as whole houses, with hotel service.

The lagoon. Azul Nomeolvides, in Bacalar: A-frame cabins on stilts, bioclimatic and off the grid, between the jungle and the water.
